If Allopurinol works: If Allopurinol works stay on it but have your kidney function testing done. Uloric is kidney sparing.

High uric acid level: To effectively treat high uric acid (ua) levels you need to see a physician and have a 24 hour urine collection to see how much ua is in it. If it is high, you will need to be placed on allopurinol. If it is low, you can start colcrys. If your ua in the collection is normal, uloric is your only option. As you did have a lowering of your ua on allopurinol, ask your doctor why you need uloric.
