My 4 year old was diagnosed with epilepsy last year..going on the fifth med and still not under control..can it be a wrong diagnosis?

Intractable epilepsy: Some cases can be more difficult to control or it may take a little longer to find the right med. Sometimes combinations of meds may be needed. There are even fewer children who end up needing special diets or who may eventually need neurosurgery. A lot depends on details of the child's epilepsy - asking for a second opinon from a university based epilepsy center can be wise.

Epilepsy problems: Epilepsy is a term for a condition where seizures occur. It is a label applied after recognition of the seizures & their pattern of recurrence. Various studies like an eeg can provide supportive evidence & help classify the pattern. It is not unusual for docs to go through several meds or combinations of meds to get control, if control is possible.
