Not helpful test: Bnp is a supplemental test. By itself it cannot tell how bad or good the condition of a patient is. That assessment is more of a clinical assessment which a medical professional can do.

BNP: Bnp is brain natriuretic protein, when measured in CHF patients it is elevated if the CHF isn't well controlled. Some data suggests it may be useful in gauging therapy for chf. Sometimes it isn't clear whether a patient has CHF and if the bnp is low, this is evidence against CHF being present. Bnp also has some possible application in other conditions.
