Hard to say: A sed rate is an indication of systemic inflammation. Whether a sed rate of 16 is abnormal is based upon the normal rnage, which can vary by the lab that did the test. Assuming a normal range up to 10 , a 16 is only a minimal elevation and is not terribly significant. Usually, a detailed history, exam, and further testing will determine the cause, thank you for the question.
