A member asked:

Does pulling your gut in during weightlifting help reduce belly fat and create stronger abdominals? and is it unhealthy to do so?

Core strength: "pulling your gut in" usually involves engaging your core strength/abdominal pelvic musculature instead of a "valsalva"-like pushing out technique. Not unhealthy. Works different abdominal muscles & "pulling your gut in" generally creates a stronger core and cosmetically better appearing abdominal area.

Nah: Tightening abdominal muscles might tighten your abdomen; muscles , but won't do anything for belly fat. Losing weight helps with that, no way around it; can't spot lose. Add cardio, with some intensity to burn more calories than weight lifting alone.
