Is climbing and ascending stairs at home a good exercise for.normal 42 yr. old male, does that have any bad influence on the spine or other body part?

Excellent exercise: Strengthens hip muscles, knees, ankles; tones heart. Make certain there is handrail for support if needed. If one knee is bad, lead with good knee both up & down. Wear sturdy footwear w/ good traction. 3-5 steps should suffice. If u don't jounce up & down stairs, should be minimal effect on spine. Take then slowly & easily; speed is not of major importance.
