Dentist tells you: It's hard or impossible for a patient to know whether or not their wisdom teeth are coming in normally and whether or not there will be enough room for them to erupt into place without problems. That's why you need to see a dentist for a visual exam along with x-rays (and experience and knowledge) to figure that all out.

Exam needed: The only way to really know is to have an exam by a dentist. The exam will almost certainly include a xray. Depending on your age, tooth position, angulation, and other local factors you my or may not need to have your wisdom teeth extracted. Like any tooth, wisdom teeth can become infected and may even be at greater risk for infection if erupting abnormally. You can always get a second opinion.
