Miscarriage: Sounds as you mean on an OB exam at about 5 months, she passed a 17oz fetus? There are many potential causes (abruption, genetic issue, maternal trauma/stress, infection, ...). Unfortunately, this is before the threshold of aggressive nicu support's capabilities. Her OB should have some better guidance from above.
