Sounds like reflux: You may be having acid roll up your esophagus while you're laying down. This strong acid will cause your throat to burn and plug your airway so you'll feel like you can't get air. Here's some tips. Don't eat close to bed or over eat. Take an anti-acid medication like prilosec. Raise the head of your bed 6 inches. A less likely possibility is sleep apnea. Talk to a doctor about your issue.

Probably reflux: Sleep with the lower part of your neck elevated above your abdomen (semi-sitting). Do not eat or drink anything for 3 hours prior to going to bed. Take Prilosec otc before breakfast and Zantac (ranitidine) 150 before dinner. No coffee, tea, soda, tomatoe products. If you are not better within 2 weeks see an ENT doctor.
