Not usually: Hctz (hydrochlorothiazide) is a diuretic, so drinking "lots of water" would counteract the desired effects of the medication on your fluid status (and blood pressure). Becasue it is a diuretic, you also do not want to become dehydrated by dribnking too little, so there is a balance as to the amount of fluids you want to intake. Discuss with your dr. The approx. Amt of fluids you should take-in on the dose s/he rx'd.
