I have identical black marks on both my big toes. they are not bruises. could this be a bacterial infection?

See a doctor: Many things can cause discoloration of a toe nail. It could be blood resulting from a history of trauma or a fungal infection. I would advise seeing a podiatrist or dermatologist to rule out anything more serious, such as melanoma.

Are they growing out: If they are moving gradually to the end of the toe mostly like a hematoma. If not should be examined by podiatrist or dermatologist.
