Probably normal: Menstrual cycles can vary from month to month. Unless this becomes persistent, about 15% of cycles can irregular in any given month. Not to worry unless you are sexually active without birth control.

Anovulation: Sometimes some women will skip periods and this will throw off their cycle in such a way that they get unpredictable bleeding episodes (breakthrough bleeding). As long as you're not pregnant, then this is less concerning. If it keeps happening, it could be a sign of hormonal dysregulation and I'd invite you for a consult at that point.
