Elevate her legs: You can eleavate her legs when she sits. Also she can get tent stockings from a medical supply store. These stockings are very tight and will help decrease her swelling. However it sounds as though you should see your doctor soon so he/she can discover the cause of the immense swelling and treat it medically.

Leg Swelling: Leg swelling a a very common symptom and there are many causes. Your sister needs a full evaluation to try to find the cause of the swelling. Temporarily she can wear knee length support hose to help to control the edema. You should see her medical doctor or a vein specialist for an evaluation. The causes are multiple including heart, lung, kidney, liver, meds and even hormonal.
