How concerned should we be about our son's recently detected low blood platelet count?

Depends on situation: This can be an acute transient problem or a long term issue.It's worrisome quality also depends on the numbers we would be talking about.I've had kids go years with levels in the 70-80 thousand range & have no problems.I've also sweated a few that dropped in the 5-10 thousand range that i shipped off to major medical centers for treatment.
