can ibuprophen cause a distended abdomen and/or liver? i have had hep c and irritable bowel syndrome.

Unlikely: Ibuprofen very rarely causes liver damage, although you need to be extra careful to avoid alcohol (alcohol also accelerates liver damage with hcv). If people already have advanced cirrhosis they can get more complications, so it is very important to find out with your doctor how well the liver is functioning and how much scarring has occurred.
