Moderation: A generally healthy diet is most important. Unless a specific genetic disease is present, most recipients should try to follow an overall moderate diet that is not typically american and not too rich in carbohydrates and fats. But with a new, healthy liver, there are no specific restrictions.

Well nourished: There are no absolute guidelines, assuming the liver is working well.. The recipient should keep well nourished, fit, and active. Restricting salt and saturated fat are advisable, along with good blood pressure control. Keep bmi ranges close to 25 kg/m2.
