I take macrobid every time i have sex because i have reoccurring uti's, i heard it causes liver/lung problems& fibrosis, is long term use safe?

Macrobid: Macrobid has been used for many years for treatment of uti's both acute and chronic and also as prophylaxis in preventing uti's in sexually active women. Patients on any long term drug need to be monitored by their physician. There possible problems with the long term use of this drugs, liver function needs to be monitored. There are rare lung complications including lung fibrosis.
