Hello, i had a lumpectomy and removal of 6 lymph nodes in 2003. due to an accident i have to use crutches. is there a danger of lympodemia occurin?

Unlikely: If you didn't develop any lymph edema thusfar as a result of surgery, node dissection or radiation and its been almost ten years, it is likely that your lymphatic channels are open and healed. There is scarring as a result of your treatments. U could increase padding on the top of that arms crutch. You could seek out a lymph edema clinic for discussion of compression sleeves or massage technique.

Not likely: I agree with dr levitt. Also lower the padded upper portion of tthe crutch so that the pad does not press into the axilla and you use your arm strength for the crutch, not the axilla (arm pit). Have a medical staff person show you how to use the crutches properly.
