Can be normal: Bleeding in early part of pregnancy is called threatened abortion, which means you have a 50% chance of miscarriage. Assuming you have had some sort of exam or ultrasound showing your pregnancy was normal at some point, going to your doctor to hear the heartbeat can be reassuring and no special treatments are needed.
