They could: Potentially cause musculoskeletal pain to the ankle, knees, hips, low back. There seems to be a correlation of increased odds of say a bunion deformity with flatfeet vs non flatfeet. Similarly, with plantar fascitis.

Flatfoot : It depends on the severity and cause of the flatfoot. Some flatfeet have no symptoms or related problems while others are eventually crippling. See your local podiatrist for evaluation and treatment suggestions.

Knee or back pain: Many people with flatfoot have no symptoms. If you have foot knee or low back pain it would be wise to see a foot specialist to evaluate you biomechanically and make recommendation for shoes or orthotics.
