Cast: Sometimes just resting the foot in a cast or walking boot can help in a unknown healing process. I would seek a second opinion and evaluation for further care and treatment options.

Consult your doctor: Pain could be due to different reasons. Causes may include: trauma (fracture, tendon or ligamentous tear, arthritis), infection, metabolic conditions (gout) musculoskeletal or biomechanical abnormality, neurologic conditions (neuropathy), or a blood clot. A history and physical exam and possibly laboratory and radiology exams could determine the cause. See your doctor and voice your concerns.

Possible neuritis: There are not many structures on the top of the foot other than skin, fat, tendons, few small muscles ligaments and the underlying joints and bones. Nri's poorly visualize nerves since they are small at the level of the foot. If the pain shoots or radiates or tjhe area tingles when u tap where it hurts it is possibly a nerve problem. Seek another opinion with a foot specials.
