Yes, but...: This "tenting" deformity of the toenail can happen without an underlying bone spur. And if you have a spur and it is removed, the nail may still grow abnormally. Not an easy problem. Usually pain can be reduced by narrowing the width of the nail with a toenail procedure, and keeping the nail filed flatter in the middle.
