A member asked:

If u have gestational diabetes at what point would your baby start to grow larger than average?could it be larger in the 1st trimester or later on?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Typically later: Gestational diabetes by its very nature is a condition that develops later in pregnancy. It has to do with Insulin resistance caused by the hormones from the placenta. This would not impact a pregnancy in the first trimester. You would expect to see growth issues in the second or third trimesters.
