Speak to someone: If i understand your question correctly, you have thought about the surgery but didn't pursue it out of anxiety. Or did you try and were refused? Either way, it will help you to speak to someone at least a few times. It is entirely normal to be nervous about surgery, and especially about a surgery that touches on one's appearance. Ask your doc for a referral (or the surgeon).

Consultation.: Decision of the supernumerary tissue is generally a relatively straightforward and well tolerated procedure. Given your concerns, i would suggest in-person consultation with board-certified plastic surgeons to discuss your goals, concerns, and anxiety. Hopefully, once you feel comfortable with your plastic surgeon's ability you will be able to proceed confidently. Best wishes.
