The one you USE!: An in-office whitening system will always deliver the best results. But having said that- there is no reason to expect that a take-home kit (trays, gel syringes, etc) will not work well. My patients experience their best results after a cleaning and polishing when they begin to use their tray systems. Not to mention that, gingival (gum) health must be critically evaluated prior to whitening.

Zoom: The best whitening systems are those that are administered by a dental professional. I get great results using zoom to start and then bleaching trays to achieve the desired color and to maintain the color. Yellows tend to whiten the best and grays the least. Anything that will stain a white tee shirt will stain your teeth, so diet modification will also help make the whitening last longer.

It depends!: There are so many whitening systems on the market that all do the same thing. The difference is in how fast, and how strong the chemicals are that do the whitening. Most dentist recommend a take home kit with around 15- 22% carbamide peroxide. This will not only give you the ability to whiten later on when the whitening fades, but is fairly gentle, while being more precise than 'whitestrips'.

No one best system: There is no one "best" whitening system. It's important to make sure your teeth and gums are healthy and you have had a professional cleaning first! there are many systems, methods and brands and all have their advantages and disadvantages. Results are also dependent upon your specific dental circumstances. Speak to a trusted dentist to discuss the options available to you.
