Normally not a prob: Enlarged taste buds are normally not a problem, but attempt to figure out when it occurred. The enlargement can be due to meds, supplements, spicy or sour foods, illness. I would contact an oral surgeon, ENT doctor or dentist if in doubt or there is an increase in discomfort.

Normal: There are a set of larger papillae or taste buds on the rear of tongue. They form a v-shaped pattern. They can become irritated or inflamed with discomfort but usually are not a problem.

This is not uncommon: Many people have large taste buds in this areas of the tongue. If they do not hurt, then they are generally normal.

Its cool!: There are a group of 'taste buds' on the very back of your tongue called circumvallate papillae. They are totally normal, so no need to be worried!
