Losing weight?: You are wise to consider the possibility. If you are losing weight, don't delay: consult a good psychiatrist (M.D.) or psychologist (pH.D.) with experience in eating disorders (esp. Anorexia, which involves restricting food). Anode tic weight loss is medically dangerous. Even if no weight loss, best to nip it in the bud--or learn there's another reason.

Yes: It could indicate a number of things. Sometimes people eat when they are stressed, seeking a form of comfort from food. If it bothers you, or is making you gain weight or become unhealthy, then yes, you should seek treatment for it from a counselor who specializes in eating disorders. It could also b a manifestation of something traumatic that happened in your past.

Emotional/physical: There are both physiological & emotional causes of not being able to stop eating. If you have too few calories, you can get ravenous and not stop once you start eating. Or you may binge as a way of coping with painful or upsetting emotions, in which you use food to numb, distract or cope. If it's a problem to you, it's a problem! If you are "emotional eating" then seek professional help.
