Binging/purging: Even with professional help, it is a slow process of recovery. A trained professional can help you explore the dynamics behind the behaviors, instead of just treating the symptoms.

Why do it alone?: Professional help would make your recovery process much easier, and more likely to keep moving in a positive direction. So, why not avail yourself of this? It's an endless cycle otherwise. You can find plenty of information through the national eating disorders association: http://www.Nationaleatingdisorders.Org/ good luck to you!

Really you don't : Aversion for obtaining help (professional or otherwise) is part of the power struggle an eating disordered patient faces every day. Asking for help appears to give up independence, but actually is a brave step forward taken in the direction of healing. . Get help, get it!
