Growth opportunity: Genetics and confusing life experiences cause social anxiety to varying degrees in many folks. I'm very glad the medication helped. You're a grown man now and it's time to learn some tricks that may eventually make it possible for you to function normally without medicine. If you're offered cognitive-behavioral therapy, take it; just learning more about people can make life more predictable too.

Cipralex (AKA: Escitalopram) is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (ssri) widely used for depression & anxiety disorder. If it works well to control your anxiety, it may be used long-term. Pts on higher doses should have heart rhythm monitored periodically. Some experience decreased libido & premature ejaculation (reverses with stopping med). Others report insomnia, sleepiness, constipation. Ask doc.
