Laymans fibromyalgia: How about using the term myofascial pain syndrome. Hope this helps with the layman. Unfortunately with the medical community its fibromyalgia.

CWP: ? as to a less stigmatizing term than "fibromyalgia" (FM). "Chronic widespread pain" (CWP) describes sentinel symptom; pain lower & upper back sine qua non. CWP, absent images of tissue degeneration, warrants Osteopathic soft tissues (fascia, muscle, tendons & ligaments) exam for local pain generation & dysfunctions. Signs of sacroiliac joint disorder & Thoracic Outlet Syndrome possible findings.
