Many things: When back pain shoots into the legs, and is associated with numbness or weakness, it needs to be evaluated. Many people have low back pain but don't necessarily have pain shooting into the legs or neurological symptoms. Numbness or weakness can signal a problem with the lower spine or the nerve roots as they exit the spine. You should see your doctor.
