Sometimes: No matter the cause, D&C is sometimes required if there are "retained products of conception"(pregnancy tissue). This can be seen with miscarriages, medical abortions, deliveries, etc. Keep in close touch with the ob/gyn and they will help through the process and determine if D&C is necessary.
