14d before menses: Typically, ovulation occurs about 14 days before your period. So if your periods are consistent in length (let's say 28 days), then ovulation occurs on day14. (day1 is the first day of your period). If your cycle is 35 days long, for example, then ovulation would occur on day 21). Have to track your periods to know cycle length (measured from the first day of bleeding).

Ovulation monitor: Typically, women ovulate 2 weeks (12-16 days) before their period, and can get pregnant if they have sex up to 7 days before ovulation. There are classes for natural family planning, or basal body temperature, or urine ovulation kits- all ways to identify your fertile days. Apps for your phone are not as helpful, unless you have a very regular cycle.
