Moderation a key: Caffeine in moderation is tolerated ok in pregnancy & no birth defects are attributed to its use. A newly born infant can take 1-2 days to clear half of their caffeine load & can have insomnia or irritability as an effect. After a week or more an infant can process the material quicker so consumption while breast feeding is possible. Avoiding near the time of birth is warranted & moderation otherws.
