Go see your doctor: Most likely, bright red blood is due to hemorrhoid or anal fissure but could also be due to diverticula, too. Upper GI bleed (from stomach ulcer) likely to be darker in color since there's been time to digest blood but if it's flowing fast, it could come out reddish, too. If you're 50+, get a colonoscopy to screen for cancer. Bottom line, go see your doc for evaluation. Go to er if dizzy or faint.

H emmorhoid: That is the most common cause. There are more serious causes so at your age i would recommend a visit to a GI specialist.
