I have been taking 25 mg of topamax (topiramate) 2x/day for 12 weeks for migraines. working well, but how long can i stay on this drug? long term effects?

A long time: If the current dose of topamax (topiramate) is controlling your headaches, you can stay on it for many years, if needed. Your dose is very low, so the risk of side effects should be low. Long term risks would include kidney stones, but staying well hydrated reduces the risk. If you have lost weight with topamax (topiramate), this usually continues or maintains your current loss as long as you take the medication.
