Amiodarone: Amiodarone has a high concentration of iodine which can induce a destructive thyroiditis which can initially cause hyperthyroidism followed by hypothyroidism. In the case of preexisting autoimmune thyroid disease, it can add "fuel to the fire" worsening the disease process.
