Likely viral...: You likely have acute bronchitis due to a viral infection which will run its course over the next 7-10 days. The only treatment is symptomatic relief. See your doctor if the cough lasts beyond your other symptoms since sometimes bronchospasm can develop from acute bronchitis. This can be treated with bronchodilator and steroid inhalers. Also see your doctor if your symptoms worsen.

URI: Cough can be the main symptoms of a cold or upper respiratory infection. Are you short of breath? If not, then you can manage your symptoms at home with OTC meds like Dayquil and Nyquil. In a non-smoker these symptoms will resolve on their own within 7-10 days. Antibiotics do not treat viral infections.
