A member asked:

Is it ok to use soapy water instead of wipes during changings?

Yes: Definately, or even just a wet washcloth. That's what our mothers used! wipes are convenient, but sometimes can worsen rashes.

Yes: Sure! some parents prefer a mild soap and water- or even plain water- and a clean washcloth to clean the diaper area instead of wipes. You can also try the "sensitive" wipes that are made for more sensitive skin in case your baby is breaking out into rashes from the wipes themselves. Also, if your baby has diaper rash due to diarrhea, it is a good idea to change the diapers more frequently.

Yes: Using soft, moist towels with a bit of "babywash" soap instead of using diaper wipes during diaper changes is ok to do.

Yes: It is in many ways better! if you use a moist wash cloth with, or without a mild unscented soap, you are avoiding exposure to harsher chemicals and perfumes in wipes. Some of these chemicals irritate the babys skin and may cause diaper rash.
