Is it ok to be 200 pounds at 13?

Depends on height: 200 lbs for a 13 yo of average height is considered very obese. It sets them up for a lifetime of serious health issues. Assuming there are no underlying issues, such as hormonal imbalances, it is imperative that this child be evaluated by a physician for a plan to get to a healthy weight. The sooner the intervention, the better the outcome.

No: In order for 200 pounds to be normal for your 13 year old boy, he would have to be over 6 foot tall and a girl would need to be even taller to be in the normal range. If your child actually weighs this much, they need to be seen quickly to be assessed for diabetes, cholesterol problems, high blood pressure and thyroid disease as well as vitamin d deficiency.
