Can blisters on the lung & then a burst blister which leads to a collapsed lung be caused by stress or could heavy smoking for 20+ yrs be the cause?

Smoking not stress: Non-trauma, spontaneous pneumothorax (sp) occur as a result of an abnormality in the lung tissue. Risk factors for primary and secondary sps include: smoking (including marijuana), tall thin stature in otherwise healthy, connective tissue disorders, pregnancy, familial history. Sps are associated with 20-40% recurrence rate (depending type).

Young smokers: Young smokers do significant damage to their lungs, and weaken them to blebs. Don't blame this on stress. Quit now it's never too late.
