Antibiotics: Strep throat is caused by a bacterial infection. It is very important to have this treated with antibiotics. The throat infection is not the main issue with this type infection, rather the toxins that are produced by the bacteria - streptococcus group a - can cause long term heart/kidney problems. This must be treated with antibiotics. See your doctor who can do a throat swab and then treat you.
