2 days: I hold patients out of strenuous activity for 2 days after each viscosupplement/joint fluid injection to minimize soreness and maximize benefit. Of course, your physician should be able to guide you in this process. Some patients that have moderate pain and swelling are held out of sports until their symptoms improve, which may be a few weeks after completion of the full series of injections.
