What type?: If you are referring to local anesthesa, then no. Other types of anesthesia such as IV sedation, general anesthesia and nitrous oxide\oxygen analgesia can cause stomach or abdominal pain and discomfort that can lead to mild to severe nausea, vomiting, stomach cramping and loss of appetite. Keep in mind that any anxiety and psychological stress of the procedure could cause some stomach discomfort.

Dental Anaesthesia: Yes, dental anesthesia can cause GI distress. Topical agents can lead to salivation and enters the stomach, stimulating gastric secretions. Local anesthetics with Epinephrine can enter the blood stream causing tachycardia and anxiety. Which may cause susceptible patients to feel like nausea or vomiting.

Rarely: Most dental anesthetics utilize IV sedation. If the dentist uses the anesthesia gasses this could increase your chance of nausea. The dentist can give medications to decrease this possibility.
