Other types of anesthesia such as IV sedation, general anesthesia and nitrous oxide\oxygen analgesia can cause stomach or abdominal pain and discomfort that can lead to mild to severe nausea, vomiting, stomach cramping and loss of appetite. Keep in mind that any anxiety and psychological stress of the procedure could cause some stomach discomfort.

Rarely: Most dental anesthetics utilize IV sedation. If the dentist uses the anesthesia gasses this could increase your chance of nausea. The dentist can give medications to decrease this possibility.
