Low carb &: Low carb diets work better than low fat diets. Cut saturated fats and replace with monosaturated fats whenever possible. Don't smoke (lowers good-hdl-cholesterol). Exercise and achieve a good weight. And one drink per day will increase HDL levels. Finally increase your omega-3 fatty acid intake with more fish in the diet and/or supplements and increase fiber intake!

Low carb: Cholesterol comes in response to inflammation, so need to reduce inflammation to lower cholesterol naturally. Carbs all breakdown to sugar which increases Insulin which is 1 cause of inflammation, so low carb diet is best.
