Fats and cholesterol: Reduce consumption of: egg yolks, mayo, butter, hydrogenated oils, Trans fats. Lowering total carbohydrate intake (complex and simple sugars) will also help. Exercising is a great way to increase good cholesterol (HDL) which can help lower the bad cholesterol. Replace daily snacks as well with 1 to 2 servings of fruits a day. Can also substitute with low sugar and fat yogurt for snacking.

High cholesterol: Hi. High cholesterol generally shows a rather poor response to dietary intervention. It helps to know your overall profile. If "high" is due to HDL, no problem. If "high" is due to LDL, it helps to cut saturated fat out of diet (cutting cholesterol has little effect). Healthy diet & ideal body weight also help the LDL be the large, buoyant LDL (less dangerous than the small, dense LDL). Good lucK!
