Often misdiagnosed: Scabies is frequently misdiagnosed, especially by non dermatologists. Sometimes, the skin can be scraped and a mite found under the microscope, often a female with an egg inside it. Treatment sometimes does not work well, or make take weeksf or the itching to stop. A skin biopsy may be helpful, read by an expert skin pathologist. Oral treatment with Ivermectin pills usually works to skill mites.
