I'm 40 weeks and only half a centimeter dilated why isn't my labor starting doctor talking about induction?

Induce labor.: If your pregnancy is dated by an ultrasound before 20 weeks, then labor induction anytime after 40 weeks and 3 days is not only reasonable but also advisable, as the risk of fetal death exceeds the risk of newborn death after that date (presuming you and the fetus are healthy). Your obstetrician can choose from several safe options of labor induction if you have never had a cesarean delivery.

Sometimes nature: Does not work right, if you were my pt and have good dates and the baby is not measuring too large on ultrasound, then i would induce you a a recent large study showed the best time for the baby to be delivered is 39-40 weeks, the meds we have now are safe and when i induce it works 99.9% of the time meaning it gets u into labor, the farther u go past due date the greater chance for a problem!
