Depends. If you have regular menses it may be the speculum is not the right size for your opening. If you have never had menses it opens a different set of issues. In rare cased women have been born without all their female parts. The doc who evaluates you should have the best information on which to explain your case.

I am not a specialist but I think the most common reason for this is a form of spasm in the vagina. Vaginismus is the term and you can read about that online. Of course as previously noted a host of other possibilities exist. What did the examiner tell you?
