A member asked:

I am 78, lately maybe once a day feel discharge from vagina. -odorless, colorless, watery. not a lot. no doc-very atrophic--bleed from just speculum?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Doc is necessary: The GYN MD can actually use a pediatric speculum to examine the discharge, and if that gently fails, then a moistened cotton swab can be used to obtain a specimen. ("speciwoman?") This is very important to rule out certain types of reproductive cancers at your age if you still have them 'on campus".(present) The choice of a gentle considerate GYN MD is tantamount to your comfort.
